Literacy
Film Narrative –
Language is about communicating visually, verbally and through texts. For the
first four weeks of the term we are exploring the visual. Film has its own rules
and language used to describe its form, content and concepts. It is these which
we will be studying in depth; camera, colour, characterisation, sound and
setting to name a few.
Poetry – To link in with the school’s poetry week we are studying the use of
imagery in poems; building from Year 5, children further explore the use of
personification in other poets' work, and then use this experience as a basis
for shared and independent writing of their own personification poems.
We will then be looking at
writing narrative in the form of plays and persuasive texts in the latter half
of the term.
Numeracy
As always we will commence
the term by working on place value and counting and properties of number. We
will then be looking at problem solving, multiplication and division, shape and
space and the dreaded fractions!
