School Governors
School governors are people from the school’s community who
wish to make a positive contribution to children’s education. They may be
parents, local community members, Headteacher and staff, or appointed by the
Local Authority.
Governors are all volunteers and have an important part to
play in raising school standards through their three key roles of
Providing
a strategic overview of the work of the school,
ensuring
accountability (acting as a critical friend)
and
monitoring and evaluating school performance.
Governing bodies work in partnership with parents, school
staff, local authority (LA), and the government. The aim of all the partners is
to make sure that the children acquire the knowledge and develop the skills and
attitudes needed to play their full part as citizens of the future.
Our school aim is to provide a high quality education to
enable every individual to work towards their true potential.
The governing body meets regularly.
Most of the Governors also have specific responsibilities
allocated to them and also take part in various committees (see list below).
You will often see them around them the school making visits
to observe classes or to participate in various ways. Hopefully you will also
see them outside the school gates, and get a chance for an informal chat.
Please do contact any of the governors if you have anything
that you would like to discuss.
